Nate McCray joined the college of wooster football staff in july 2023. At the conclusion of the 2023 campaign, Coach McCray decided not to return to the wooster football program for the 2024 season. During his tenure with the fighting scots, McCray led a defensive line group that composed great results that contributed to a ranking of 5th in forced fumbles, 6th in sacks, 10th in tackles for loss, and 13th in sacks in the Division III North Coast Athletic Conference. Coach McCray also had a senior defensive end, Domenic DeMuth receive All-North Coast Athletic Conference honors during the 2023 season. Before entering his 8th season of coaching at the college of wooster, coach mccray was named a top-2 finalist candidate for the head coach vacancy at ivy league, division i, cornell university’s sprint football team in ithaca, new york. previously, coach mccray served as the VARSITY Running Backs Coach, AND JUNIOR VARSITY HEAD COACH at Division III, Carthage College in KENOSHA, Wisconsin. Prior to making the leap to the college ranks, Coach McCray served as the Offensive Coordinator, Wide Receivers Coach, and University Recruiting Relations Coordinator at Waterford Kettering High School. COACH MCCRAY’S OFFENSIVE PLAY CALLING, CONTRIBUTED TO 69% OF his OFFENSIVE PLAYS GOING FOR 10 YARDS OR MORE. He is an ambitious football coach that displays a high-level of professionalism, and standard of excellence in every approach to coaching the game. HIS OFFENSE PRODUCED 1 ALL-REGIONAL PLAYER, 5 aLL-CONFERENCE PLAYERS, AND 3 CONFERENCE HONORABLE MENTION PLAYERS. Coach McCray currently serves as a member of the american football coaches association.
He previously served as the Offensive Coordinator, Offensive Lineman Coach, and University Recruiting Relations Coordinator at Madison Heights Lamphere High School, where he played a big part in the recruiting campaign for two varsity players who received multiple Division I and Division II scholarship offers. His daily passion of providing innovative ways of developing top talent played an essential part to the Lamphere Rams football program. Coach McCray also played an essential part in coordinating a 71% PY increase in total offensive yards, and a 27% PY increase in total rushing yards for the Lamphere Rams football program.
Before transitioning to Madison Heights Lamphere High School, Coach McCray served as the Offensive Pass Game Coordinator and Wide Receivers Coach at North Farmington High School. During his tenure at North Farmington, McCray demonstrated consistent success of being a results-driven coach by leveraging his commitment, knowledge, and successful experiences, while assisting student athletes with achieving their goals in life, and on the football field.
Previous of his tenure at North Farmington High School, Coach McCray coached at L’Anse Creuse North High School, where he served two seasons as the Wide Receivers Coach. In his first year at L’Anse Creuse North High School, Coach McCray’s team ranked 2nd in the Macomb Area Conference, clinching a MHSAA Division 1 Playoff berth.
Coach McCray also coached at the minor-league professional level where he served as the Head Coach and General Manager for the Michigan Bearcats of the Rivals Professional Football League (RPFL).
Before transitioning to the coaching ranks, Coach McCray was the Executive Global Head of Personnel & Scouting at Dynasty Sports Management, where he was a certified contract advisor in the National Basketball League (NBA), FIBA Basketball Europe, and the Canadian Football League (CFL). He is currently pursuing his bachelor’s degree in human resources at Davenport University, with an expected graduation date of December 2025.
