My commitment is to stop the run & control the pass, never letting our opponent dictate our defense. We must force the opponent out of their game plan, thus preventing them from having a consistent offensive attack.  My strategy is to force negative yardage plays by complicating the offense and forcing turnovers by physically aggressing them with our physical play. Our defense will play with extreme intensity, discipline, & aggression.

The brand of our defense will be our relentless pursuit of the ball, and our hard hitting & tackling. We will swarm the field with great passion, desire, and enthusiasm.  The objective is to pressure and confuse the opponent by stemming, shifting, & moving our front, while maintaining consistent fundamentals so we do not give up big plays.  My commitment is to stop the run & control the pass, never letting our opponent dictate our defense.

Our defensive KPI’s will also be critical to our football team’s ability to control games and limit the opposition’s scoring opportunities.  Key performance indicators for the defense focus on metrics that measure stopping power, situational effectiveness, and overall resilience.

These include points allowed per game, total yards allowed, and turnovers forced, which are fundamental to evaluating a defense’s impact. Additional KPI’s track third-down stops, red zone efficiency, tackles for loss, and sacks, providing insights into the unit’s ability to disrupt opponents’ offensive rhythms.

Advanced metrics, such as yards per play allowed and explosive plays conceded, further assess the defense’s consistency in containing big plays and managing game situations.

By setting and analyzing these KPI’s, our program can identify strengths, address weaknesses, and make strategic adjustments that enhance defensive performance, ensuring our team remains competitive and capable of shutting down opposing offenses week in and week out.

MY DEFENSIVE PHILOSOPHY
The objective is to pressure and confuse the opponent by stemming, shifting, & moving our front, while maintaining consistent fundamentals so we do not give up big plays..
COACH NATE McCRAY

TURNOVERS will do more for the success of our defense than anything else. Forcing them will be our number one priority. GET THE BALL!

The attitude of the defense will be believing in all eleven of our defensive players seeing the ball. “See the ball, Get the ball.”

My game plan is to attack the offense with multiple approaches, including defensive line stunts, individual audible stunts, zone blitzes, and man blitzes.

The best defensive layout is to play great red-zone defense inside our own twenty-yard line and on the goal line. Not allowing our opponent to run the ball into the end zone is the goal. The closer the ball is to our end zone the less field the offense must work with, and the harder it is to score.

Versatility defensively should be the mantra. The defense should adjust easily to any formation and situation. Moving and stemming should be the goal, along with including multiple stunt packages.

Having simplicity within a defense allows defensive players to communicate with confidence because they are not bogged down with complicated schemes. Defensive players must be great communicators to execute a great defense. Keep it simple and play ball.
